On the drive home, the river slid alongside us like a quiet witness. She bounced on her toes like a person whose body cannot contain her future. “We did it,” she said. Not I. We. It landed in my chest like a clean number balancing both sides of a page.
Justice, love, leaving—none of it is cinematic when you’re living it. It is spreadsheets and breakfasts and refusing to accept confusion as a climate. It is counting out loud until someone else hears the rhythm and joins. It is, sometimes, picking up a microphone in a garden and turning a moment of disaster into a map.
